We recently attended the Magazine Publisher Awards which was a formal black tie event, our Editor & Founder Greta headed along to Bobbi Brown on the afternoon before the event to get her makeup done.
We were looked after in store at Britomart by Chisto. Bobbi Brown Britomart has a beautiful little room filled with lovely natural light and a little door out to a small courtyard where you can get your makeup done or have group consultations with friends. Its perfect for bridal parties, groups of friends who have events or if you just want to get a group together to learn some makeup tips.
Bobbi Brown start with skin prep, they use a range of Treatment Lotions, Hydrating Eye Repairs, Balms and Moisturisers before they apply any makeup. This is how they achieve that beautiful healthy looking natural glow.
Information on each product, including how and where it is used is recorded on a visual face card for you to take away.
The artists will work with you to find out what looks you like best and you can try different colours and products until you find the ones you like best (natural lip vs red lip above)
The end result is natural flawless skin and a beautiful occasion makeup look.
Bobbi Brown products appeal to me because they look and feel very natural. I don’t wear a lot of makeup on a day to day basis so when I have an event to go to I want to look polished and sophisticated but not overly made-up, otherwise I won’t be comfortable. Bobbi Brown manage to achieve this by highlighting features and giving skin the most beautiful glow. So I feel confident and sophisticated but still like myself – Greta Kenyon Founder + Editor

Note: Greta didn’t wear jeans to the black tie event! She bought her top along with her to the makeup session so the artists could match her makeup to what she was wearing. Top by WORLD Brand
Three important Bobbi Makeup Tips for Occasion and Bridal from the Bobbi Brown team…
- Longwear makeup is a must
Take the time to treat and prepare your skin, as it provides the best results for long lasting makeup. By choosing the right colour and formula for your skin type it will ensure your makeup is still on point well after the ceremony or towards the end of the night at your event. Makeup you apply to your face must be very well blended. Having a good understanding of your skin type will help you prepare what to pack in your bridal purse, whether it is a face mist to rehydrate after enjoying a few glasses of champagne or setting powder to blot off any excess oil if you have a combination to oily complexion.
- Camera ready
It is best to apply makeup near natural light and stay away from sunblock as they can often provide too much light under flash photography and appear white. Finding your skin tone correct shade for your Foundation and Concealer is important as is ensuring you have enough colour to complement the whiteness of your wedding dress. Make sure to blend very well for a gorgeous, healthy glow. Bobbi loves to layer two blushers, the first shade should mimic the natural flush of your cheeks and then add a pop of colour on apples of cheeks with a brighter blush. For lips, Bobbi Brown’s new Crushed Lip Color (on sale October 2017) leaves a stained flush of colour on the lips for a just-kissed look, it pairs a beautiful soft, matte pigment with a blotted-down finish for a lived-in look that lasts all day.
It important to feel like ‘you’ on your wedding day or at your special event and be the best version of yourself. Defining your favourite features will allow you to enhance your natural beauty. Feeling confident will make photos taken on your special day even more beautiful and timeless.
