We met the old-school way, at the local pub back in 2013. I was just 21 years old, newly single and ready to party. Tim was out with his mates from the footy club and had been celebrating a win for several hours before our paths crossed. We may have been young, but Tim had “old world” charm, he was attentive, charming, and seemed far more mature than I was.
Quite unremarkably, we were on the subway up to Harlem for a friend’s birthday, deep in conversation about what we saw for ourselves in the future and the kind of lives we hoped to lead. Our hopes and dreams felt very much aligned, and we have both since pinpointed that subway ride as the moment we individually knew.
We never wanted a traditional wedding, we knew we were committed to each other for the long haul, wedding or not. We simply wanted an epic party where friends from all over the world could get together, eat incredible food, drink delicious wine (and cocktails!) and dance the night away! That, and why not make a three-day party of it if people are flying in from all over the world!
Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love... We are mum & dad to our two children, Peyton (6) & Taj (3). We love them so much and just really enjoy spending time with them and making memories.
We have known each other for 13 years, started as friends, and now we are a couple just married. We were very different people, maybe all the things you could think of, we are on the opposite side. Spent 4 years together, and we are still independent ourselves, but we are also inspired by each other and become similar at some point. For example, we are very much on the same page regarding marriage and wedding planning. I think we did make the day become what we wanted.
When I first met Stasha I was a single dad with two young kids. Stasha fit into our family dynamic perfectly and became a strong female role model for the kids from early on. After being together just under a year we knew that we were going to spend the rest of our lives together and made the decision to buy our family home.
Finn works in professional sailing, and I work in marketing. We both love getting away and heading outdoors. Whether it be camping, skiing or sailing, as long as the day ends with a big bowl of pasta and a bottle of red, we’re happy. We both love being in the kitchen and entertaining family and friends.
Jenna — I realised fairly early on in our romantic relationship that this was it for me. It was this feeling of total calm – I no longer felt the need to question where I was or what I was doing, I stopped comparing my life to anyone else's and was just truly happy with the life were living together – I felt totally in the moment and nothing else mattered.
We loved having the opportunity to elope privately before having a larger wedding celebration with family (which we are still planning!) Eloping took a lot of the pressure off of planning the perfect wedding, and it allowed us to focus completely on each other and on our relationship
The whole week leading up to the wedding it didn’t stop raining, and that continued on the day. We only had one option, and that was to embrace it. I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. The rain made it unforgettable!
We were never very taken with the ‘traditional’ wedding style. We really wanted to create something that was true to our own style – it had to be colourful, full of fun, and of course, include some deliciously big sleeves.
We met through friends. On our first date over a jug of sangria, there was an immediate spark and we couldn’t wait to see each other again.
