Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship… I am a wedding and lifestyle and underwater photographer based in South Florida. My husband is in a band and also makes guitars. We are both really into music and love going to shows. Most days you can find us outdoors hanging with our farm animals. We live on a five-acre farm and have goats, a pig named Miss Marble, four dogs, three cats and a bunny, Mr. Cheeks Ha! Our lives are busy to say the least. Blake and I met surfing over 9 years ago. We have been together most every day since then.

Tell us about your special day… We got engaged in Joshua Tree and the desert has held such a special place in our hearts every since then. The desert theme definitely had to be a part of our wedding day. We originally were going to get married at his parents’ house in Michigan but decided on their 30 acre farm here in South Florida instead. It worked out so well as I got to use all of my vendor friends to help make the day perfect!

Blake made our triangle arch as well as the wood triangle centerpieces. We both have triangle tattoos and my engagement ring is a triangle and it is a symbol that represents our love and relationship.

Using cactus and succulents for our florals helped reduce waste for our wedding as we repurposed them at our house afterwards. It also kept with our desert theme. My favorite detail of the day was definitely the triangle arch. Not only was it special since Blake built it but my sweet friend Angela, with The ALTARnative gave it life with her florals.

So many people came together to put their special touch on our day and I am so grateful for that.

Tell us about your outfits… My wedding dress was handmade by my good friends Romi and Claudia over at the Mora Girls Boutique. I have been shooting photos for them for years and they are amazing designers and people. They also made my sister’s bridesmaid dress.

Blake’s suit was actually a suit he had owned forever and only worn when he used to model! So, we got it tailored and just reused it for the wedding.

What were some of the memorable/unique moments of the day? There are so many memorable moments. When we saw each other for the first time walking down the aisle and we both were crying our eyes out. It started pouring rain in the morning and we thought for sure the ceremony wasn’t going to be held outside but it stopped right before the ceremony and we were able to still have it outside. It was literally the only true cold front that came through all winter in Florida and it got chilly. After a few beers I got up and sang some Whitney Houston which was hilarious and thank goodness no one got that on video!

My most memorable moment would be just being able to have my grandmother there; she passed only a few months after the wedding. Those memories I will always cherish.

Any advice for couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together? Cherish every moment together whether it’s good or bad. Never stay mad at each other and always, always be willing to work on yourself to better your relationship. Most importantly, never miss out on date nights!
