Because we both come from opposite sides of the world, we decided to pick a place most comfortable for both families and friends to travel to. Bali has a special place in our hearts as only a year prior to our wedding date, we got engaged in Uluwatu. So Bali was a perfect fit.
We are both really simple people, we prefer low key, nothing over the top and wanted people to have fun and celebrate the love we have for one another. Everything was perfectly executed by our very professional wedding planner. We served an Indonesian buffet and kept the Bintangs flowing. The entire day was more than we could have ever imagined.
The most memorable moments were being able to experience everything with all of our close family and friends present. To have them all be in Bali together was so special for both of us.
One of my most special moments was having my mum walk me down the aisle and give me away. I have always had a very special bond with my mum so to share that moment with her meant the world to both of us.
At one point, it started raining (good luck, we know) but we were lucky enough to have the Balinese male staff pray in temple in the garden for us. In Bali, it is a tradition to pray to the rain gods to keep the rain away. So just like that, the rain disappeared for the remainder of the evening. That was really special to witness for everyone.
Advice: Don’t stress the little things, because the wedding will be perfect no matter how things turn out. No one really cares about the table decor or what colour chair ties you used.
At the end of the day, it’s about both of you celebrating your love for one another, not about putting on the biggest extravaganza leaving you broke for the first year of marriage. We didn’t sweat the small stuff and knew that no matter what we chose, people would have fun, and we are almost certain that worked out best for us.
