We first met through an ex-boyfriend of mine but we are both in the fashion industry and had seen each other at events. After a night out together, we became inseparable and after two months of dating, Leonardo was already looking at wedding venues and churches!
I thought he was crazy when he would talk about our wedding, because we weren’t even engaged, but when he proposed in his home town of Le Marche, Italy, he was shaking with nerves and we felt so in love. We are very aware of how incomplete we both feel when we’re apart and I think that’s why we got married only nine months after we met. We both love a good gin and tonic and wanted to have our reception at Carlo e Camilla in Segheria because they do the best G&Ts in Milan. We can’t wait to go back there when our daughter is born in August. We were lucky enough to have renowned Italian chef Carlo Cracco lead our catering and we cut our cake to Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love”. My Alberta Ferretti wedding dress was the first one I tried on. It was incredibly simple, but I knew people would appreciate its understated elegance and I liked that it didn’t draw too much attention to me or scream “the bride is coming”. I have a vivid memory of the bond I felt between my father and I on that day. When I saw him, he looked exhausted from waiting for me in the heat — I was 40 minutes late because of a bike marathon on the way to the church. At the end of the ceremony, he said to me: “You made it, you are finally married!” The day went so fast and was filled with so many emotions that we are incredibly grateful for the photos and film created by Laura and Tommy at Lato Photography. They will allow us to relive those moments for many years to come. Our advice to other young couples is to not think about marriage as the end goal. It’s not something you arrive at. It is a responsibility that you have to want to take on.
