It was love at first sight. We were on a terrace bar, introduced by an old childhood friend. From that very first meeting, I knew he was made for me. His voice, the whole world that he was offering to me, made me fall in love with him.
At first, we lived in different cities and every weekend we would travel 500km to be together. The distance was hard and our love was strong so we moved, and started living together. One weekend, we took a trip away to a beautiful hotel in an old lighthouse on the Costa Brava. Kilian took me straight out to the balcony there, and under the light of the lighthouse, whispered those magical words: “Will you marry me?” It was my dream come true. We wanted to get married in Menorca because we had spent summers there together. It is an island that makes us very happy. We also knew that we wanted to get married outdoors, near the sea, and for it to be a very Mediterranean-style wedding, with dinner under the stars and all our family and friends there to eat and celebrate with us. Everyone stayed in a big old house near the clifftop where we married. We all woke up to a beautiful day together, had a big breakfast together, swam, and spent the morning trying out our music equipment for the party later. The ceremony was beautiful. We had chosen special music and there were speeches from Kilian’s mother and from friends, and when we were finally standing there together on the clifftop, emotion completely conquered us. Neither of us could hold back the tears. The party started straight away afterwards. Cocktails were poured and the DJ had people dancing. For dinner, people could help themselves to traditional Balearic island rice dishes, and we all ate and drank together in a casual way. For the bridal bouquet toss, our friends and family lit the night with flares, the DJ played an Armin van Buuren mix and people were dancing and waving napkins. Later, the dancing moved towards the pool and almost everyone, including the newlyweds, ended up in the pool. Every part of that day was more perfect than we could have imagined. If you’re planning a wedding, surround yourself with professionals who can realise your dreams, and don’t worry about whether it’s going to turn out right, because on the day, you will only experience happiness.
