Patryk and I met each other at a wedding, and as soon as I saw him, I knew he would be my husband. We decided to move in together after one month of knowing each other and by the end of the second month, we were engaged. Patryk had ordered a handmade engagement ring that he planned on proposing with in the evening, but when the courier arrived, I was so curious about what was inside the parcel that Patryk decided to get down on one knee right then and there. Although I was very surprised, I didn’t hesitate to say a big yes.
We now live in the countryside in a small Polish village and love travelling and attending music festivals. We share a love of photography and have been fortunate enough to turn our passion into work by capturing real love at weddings. Although our wedding was only one day of celebrations for our guests, it was six months of hard work and preparation for Patryk and I. We were passionate about creating as many of the decorations as possible, from the invitations to the lighting garlands, the big letters in the marquee that read Miłość (love), and the barn decorations where the reception was held. We wanted our wedding to be reminiscent of a colourful forest filled with pheasant feathers, blueberries and wild strawberries. It can be difficult to find locations in Poland to celebrate a wedding, but we knew this barn was perfect for us. The most special moment of the day was seeing each other for the first time before the ceremony. When Patryk saw me in my wedding dress for the first time, he had tears in his eyes and hugged me so tight. We faced much criticism about the preparation of our wedding, about our non-traditional outfits and about having our reception in a barn, but we chose to ignore the opinions of others and we can say with confidence that our wedding was authentically ours — and it looked spectacular! Working together to bring our dream wedding to life reminded us that we can count on each other for better and for worse. Marriage with the right person means you feel completely fulfilled and your love is the most beautiful adventure.
