Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship… Ramon is the head sommelier at Stokehouse Q and I am an account manager for Bibendum Wine Co. We have been together for an amazing 4.5 years and engaged for 16 months.

Ramon had planned to propose on a holiday that we had planned, but one Wednesday morning when we were at home in our pyjamas still, he decided it was the right moment, and popped the question then. And it was so much more perfect that way. We’re very happy that we got to have that moment completely private, it’s so much more ‘us’!

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details… We didn’t really have a theme. Vieille Branche was the first and only venue we looked at. I found some pictures on Instagram and couldn’t believe that the venue was in Brisbane. We went to check it out and within 5 minutes we knew that it was perfect for us. We also chose vendors who had worked in the space before – it’s quite unusual and we wanted people who were familiar with it.

And then we picked Liz for hair and makeup because her and Amanda (our photographer) had worked together before. Amanda, Liz and Chris are now a little dream team that have been doing heap of weddings together. They were amazing. We just wanted to have a fairly intimate, but epic dinner party. We both work in food and wine so they were really important things to us. We wanted to have amazing food, drink amazing wine and just have a great party with our closest friends and family.

Tell us about your main outfits: I saw a picture of my gown online and knew it was exactly what I wanted. I was hunting it down but it kept disappearing or getting really expensive. I had almost given up when a friend who had seen pictures of it told me it was being sold in a group on Facebook that she was in. Brand new, amazing price. I took a punt and bought it and it fit perfectly! I had been to look at some bridal boutiques and tried on some beautiful dresses, but they were never what I wanted, so it was pretty amazing that it all worked out.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Seeing each other for the first time. It was great to do the first look before the ceremony. It was really nice to have that moment to ourselves.

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together? Relax, it’s not meant to be stressful. There will be a few moments that test you but it’s meant to be a happy and fun time. Ultimately your friends and family will be there, and you’ll get married. That’s the whole point, isn’t it? We’re glad that we did the things we wanted. We didn’t feel that we had to do certain things just because it was a wedding tradition. We didn’t want a cake, we didn’t want heaps of speeches, we created a wedding that was us.
