Tell us about your background and who is behind ‘Watch My Wedding’?
My background is in graphic design and marketing, so they are the skills that I now bring to the business. My husband and business partner is what you’d call ‘the brains of the business’. He came up with the idea originally, and has created bespoke software and hardware to offer a unique service for couples who want to live-stream their wedding. His background is in software engineering and has been coding since he was 9 years old.
Crane Brothers is an iconic brand. Can you tell us about your history?
I grew up with the punk, New Romantic movement, looking at the back of a record or an old copy of The Face and going, how do I get that look? It didn’t exist here, so I grew up finding things in op shops and remodelling them. I was a menswear buyer at Zambesi for five years, which introduced me to luxury brands like Helmut Lang, Martin Margiela and Dries Van Noten, who were doing high fashion, but everything came from tailoring. I became fixated on that craft and process.
Tell us a bit about Juliette Hogan… I started my label 13 years ago and I now have three boutiques in Auckland and an online platform as well as a bridal service. We’ve extended our offering beyond our mainline with luxury luggage, my own scent, an edit of homeware items and JH Little One – a small but perfectly formed edit of baby pieces launching in August 2016.
Tell us a little about yourself and about your business…
I’ve been passionate about shoes since my teenage years. I launched the Kathryn Wilson brand in 2003, at 23. We now supply to over 100 boutiques throughout New Zealand and have three flagship stores in Auckland along with our online store.
