Bronté & Shaun by Micimage Wedding Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

We both love gigs, I was more of the one on the dance floor and Shaun was the handsome DJ who I fell in love with when he dropped a really good drum and bass track (laughs).

Leading up to the official beginning of our relationship was a crazy series of coincidences bringing us to the same places at the same time. Drawn together by fate, undeniable attraction towards one another and a cheeky bottom pinch from myself… to let him know I was interested, just kidding.. not really! Our first official “date” we went on was a small hike to see the Blue Pools in Haast Pass, a great way in getting to know someone quick is to take them a few hours away for some good car banter! It really was a truly ‘meant to be’ kind of feeling. Four years down the track and we are out doing the Cathedral Cove walk down to see the cave, little did I know that Shaun was about to pop the question inside the cave. Later that day when we were telling our family our news we found out that both of our parents went to Cathedral Cove on their honeymoons, which we feel is pretty serendipitous.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

We wanted to keep it pretty simple as our natural landscape in Wanaka is so beautiful by itself, we had our heart set on a round arch for sometime as it didn’t take away from the view behind it. My good friend who owns a local florist shop in town helped put our vision to fruition. Earthy tones, notes of gold and a good helping of Toi Toi and Magnolia leaves.

Tell us about your main outfits:

I tried on so many dresses I was starting to feel as though I would never find the one. Mum and I were visiting her friend at her jeweller shop in Newmarket and she mentioned the bridal boutique next door to her shop, I poked my head in and there it was! My heels were Yolan Cris bought from our local bridal studio, ordered and made to order in Spain. As soon as we went on our adventure my Kate Sylvester Biker Boots came in handy! Shaun felt more comfortable not wearing a traditional suit so wore a crisp white tailored shirt, bow tie, black merino waistcoat and black chinos all from Barkers in Queenstown.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

We had our beautiful son Koby last year ago who is our absolute world! Having him share our special day with us was so special. We shared our time with him in the morning before the ceremony so he could see us both before walking down the aisle with Shaun. And of course the helicopter adventure was pretty epic!

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Never go to sleep angry and unresolved. Communication, encouragement and laughter is key!
