Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

Nicola was born and raised in Hamilton, and Jai was born in Whangarei, living there as well as Auckland, Hamilton and a brief stint in Thailand as an infant. We both went to school in Hamilton, including the same middle school, but we didn’t meet until we were doing tertiary study.

Brought together by a common Facebook friend, we discovered that while our life journeys (city kid/farm boy) were vastly different, those differences provided a nice balance that complimented each other.

I was born and raised in Germany and Nick grew up in Melbourne. We both met working in retail during our uni days back in 2012. I was doing my Masters of Teaching and Nick was doing his engineering degree. We became friends quickly and due to our age difference of 3 ½ years I never thought he’d be interested. We were friends for only half a year before we realised our connection was much stronger than that.

It sounds cliche, but we truly bring out the best in each other and balance each other out to make a pretty great team. We really are each other’s biggest fans.

I am I am in architecture, working in Melbourne and competing as an elite Track and Field athlete for New Zealand, Sam is a professional rugby player currently based in Japan. I met Sam in 2016 when I became his housemate. He was playing Super Rugby for the Melbourne Rebels and I had moved to Melbourne for athletics and my masters.

James and I met in Melbourne at a 2011 New Years Eve party, he was my NY kiss, in fact we are both not entirely sure we spoke beforehand either because we were both a little bit drunk (classy stuff I know!)

Nick: Shannan and I met in our early twenties and right away we felt something with each other that we’d never experienced with anyone before. I felt immediately drawn to her and she still gives me butterflies when I see her. She’s so beautiful and funny but also very cheeky and it doesn’t matter what we’re doing, it’s always fun.

Bianca: Miles and I met as fresh, baby-faced students at university in Dunedin. Miles was someone that I would see around EVERYWHERE - in lectures, on the street, in cafes - but I didn’t actually meet him for almost 2 years. Finally, my flatmate who studied physiotherapy with Miles, introduced us when I bumped into them one day at uni. From that day, our friendship grew effortlessly.

Hannah and Troy’s relationship was a happy accident - serendipitous. Hannah accidentally super liked Troy on Tinder. Alex, Hannah’s bridesmaid was there to witness her horror when it happened.
