I am a project coordinator and Brendan is an underwriting manager for large construction projects. We love hiking with our rescue dog Casper, visiting family and friends, hitting the beach or going to see live music. We met online four years ago while living in NYC. We find joy and humour in the little things. Life is short and we try to live with a lightness, grateful for one another and what we have together. Our goal was always to have a sunset wedding in the desert. Our styling inspiration was eclectic: black tie meets bohemian in muted desert tones, with as many flowers as possible because SPRING! We had a neon sign made saying “Forever is Composed of Nows”, written in Erin’s handwriting. This is the title of an Emily Dickinson poem and a reminder to live in the moment and remain grateful for what we have. There was a serene quiet on the rooftop during our ceremony, and we were married surrounded by cascading flowers glimmering with rain drops. It felt like an enchanted garden. Our best friend Bethany was reading from a vintage first edition she had found. It is a moment that is so much more meaningful than we can describe. As she was speaking and as the rain fell, we watched the ink of her pages run. She gave us the book and we love that we can open it, see the ink that ran and remember that moment, filled with love, so vividly. When planning your wedding, remember the reason you’ve chosen to be there. Do what you can to make it a day that you will love and never forget. Don’t do things because you have to; do things you want to! Be aware of what’s most important to each other. Brendan’s must-have was a live band (which was so much fun!) and mine was an amazing photographer. I’d followed Jordan’s work for years and was grateful we could have him there with us. Being married, to us, is a commitment to both the best and hardest times life has to offer. We know that life can take its toll; people get busy, have kids, build a home together, work hard and don’t vacation enough. It is easy for couples to forget the connection they have when everything else gets in the way. Our wedding day, and our vows, will serve as a reminder to us to always remember.
