Georgia & Michael by Anni Maria Photography

Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

Michael: I’m Michael. I’m the luckiest man on earth because I get to call myself Georgia’s husband!!!

When I’m not busy trying to work out why Georgia actually agreed to marry me (which is regularly), I am an accountant. I also love golf, yoga, and just enjoying my friends and families company. I think the most unique thing about our relationship is we are so honest and genuine with each other, and we truly know and remind ourselves everyday how lucky we are to have found each other.

Georgia: I’m Georgia, lover of cheese and wine, cooking and going home and spending time on the family farm. I work as a physiotherapist in the area of pelvic health. But most importantly, I am the wife and best friend to Michael. I think our relationship is unique because we genuinely are best friends. In this busy world we live in, we make sure we prioritise spending time together because we really value our relationship and grateful of each other every day.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

Georgia: When we were in the initial stages of planning, we decided we wanted to create a big party with all of our loved ones. We looked at a few venues with the vision of a theme centred around rustic elegance. But nothing was as authentic or special as the family farm, and that was when we decided to get married on the farm. It took a small army to pull together as we did everything ourselves. We planted lawn outside the shearing shed where we had the reception 18 months before the wedding. It was watered, mowed and fertilised around the clock! The ceremony was in the garden on the front lawn of the farm house where I grew up! We really wanted to celebrate the everything local. The lamb and beef were home grown from the farm. We used local vendors where possible – our careering extraordinaire Dee-Anne who’s Sticky Date Pudding is legendary; Barb Williams our florist who is the most creative person I know. I also cannot highly recommend enough our photographer Anni and videographer Nat, who made us feel so comfortable on the day and their work speaks for itself. We will cherish the moments they captured so magically forever

Michael: As Georgia said, just no way we could go past the farm. It felt so real, so meaningful, and created the perfect venue for one amazing party! It also helped that it had been an excellent rainfall season for the farm, so it was looking absolutely stunning for the wedding.

Tell us about your main outfits:

Georgia: I had tried on a number of dresses in Perth and just felt like none of them was ‘the one’. I was worrying that I wouldn’t get that feeling, and maybe it was all a bit of a fantasy. We were travelling to Melbourne for a friend’s wedding and I had found Bluebell Bridal online and loved the collection of beautiful wedding gowns. I booked in and went to the appointment myself. The team were gorgeous and incredibly kind. Ria (Bluebell stylist) listened to what I was looking for in a dress and brought out some recommendations. We Face Timed my Mum who was on the farm back in Western Australia Bluebell bridal. When I tried on the Montgomery gown by Tara and Lauren, I felt like me in the dress. Ria suggested I go for a walk in the dress and as I was walking towards the mirror, I had this moment of thinking of me walking down the aisle in the dress. I had that special feeling and it was then that I knew this was my dress! I walked out of the appointment and found Michael waiting outside. I told him I just found my wedding dress and we did a little happy dance on the street.

Michael: I’ve always loved MJ Bale suits, so this was my first and only stop on getting me and my groomsmen sorted for the wedding. The gents at the MJ Bale on St Georges Terrace were brilliant and we were in and out in one session. We went for a simple and timeless look – dark navy suits, burgundy ties and crisp white shirts with white pocket squares.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

Georgia: For me, the ceremony was my favourite part. I have never been so nervous in my life in those moments before. But being able to walk out of my front door with my Dad by my side is something I will cherish forever. Once I saw Michael at the end of the aisle, I felt at ease instantly. He was all I could focus on. Michael also had the most incredible vows. He had me and the rest of the crowd in tears. He is incredibly poetic, and wrote them in 20 minutes (which I have to say was incredibly frustrating as I had spent months writing mine)! I will also cherish the moments when my family and bridesmaids first saw me in my wedding dress. There were lots of happy tears! At the end of the night, we went back to our little honeymoon suite (a self-sufficient room my parents built as an addition to the house for guests at the farm). My brothers and sister had organised a grazing board of all our favourite things – bread, cheese, crackers, champagne, chocolate, ice cream (the perfect way to end wedding shredding!). The board had our names and our wedding date engraved on it. It was the perfect way to finish our day, as we ate our way through the board and talked over every part of our day.

Michael: Easy – when I first saw my beautiful wife at the top of the aisle!Otherwise, the whole day and night were so incredible. I loved the happiness and just genuine fun everyone was having – everywhere I looked, everyone was beaming and the energy and joy people were experiencing was so magical. It was honestly just a huge party, and I’d do it again every weekend if I could!

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?

Georgia: Be a team. We try in everything we do to be a team – by supporting each other, listening to each other and making decisions that are continually working towards our goals.

Michael: Believe that together, you can do anything. And most importantly, not just on your big day but everyday of your lives together, live in the moment and appreciate how truly lucky you are to have each other and all your beautiful family and friends around you.
