Real Wedding: Amelia & Craig – Photography by Jessica Sim Photography

Craig and I met ten years ago through our siblings when I was 17 and Craig was 19, we were so young! I think our relaxed, loving and accepting personalities have mean’t that we’ve never tired of one another. In fact we have no idea where the last decade has gone, but it has been the best.

We live near the beach in Orewa, Auckland with our cat Toby and dog Bella in a home that we have been renovating ourselves. Craig is a Builder and I studied Interior design so it’s been a labour of love for us both. I run my own business and co-own an event hire company called Maree & Co., so planning our wedding was a very exciting experience for me. We were pretty hands-on as far as the styling and many of the details were concerned, from the invitations through to setting up grazing platters for post ceremony nibbles, collecting flowers from my Grandma’s gorgeous rose garden and arranging a lot of the tables and reception details in the marquee. This was such a fun area of the wedding to be involved in especially getting to use all of our own hire products from my company! I definitely had a vision for the overall look and feel for the day – we wanted to keep it simple but elegant, so we stuck to whites and creams with touches of blush and lots of greenery for floral, bringing brass detail into things like the lighting, place names and table details at the reception. After the ceremony we mingled in the garden with our guests, nibbling and drinking while a fabulous Spanish accoustic band played before the bus arrived to take us all off to The Tasting Shed. We spent the rest of the night grazing on wonderful shared tapas style food, listening to heartfelt speeches and dancing the night away. My dress was from A la Robe – as soon as I saw it in the studio I knew this was finally what I had been looking for. I didn’t want to be a traditional bride as I’m a pretty relaxed person, plus I love simplicity, so the style of the dress with it’s low back and beautiful silk was perfect. Our amazing bridal party and friends surprised us during the evening with a dance which they had been practicing for weeks, it was hilarious and will be a memory from the day that we’ll always look back on and laugh about. The day goes so quickly so have fun and enjoy all it!
