Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
There’s no great love story with us, we have a simple love…
We care deeply for each other, we want the best for each other and we simply don’t want to be without each other. We met through mutual friends and were together for 9 years and engaged for 14 months. Cameron proposed to me alongside my daughter (his step-daughter) in our home. Cameron and Stella has set up the proposal that day and I came home to a flower filled, candle lit home. Sharing it with Stella will always be a memorable moment for all of us. 4 months before the wedding we found out we were pregnant, something we weren’t expecting or prepared for.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
Our venue was unique and required little styling, Vieille Branche was the exact type of venue we were looking for to create an atheistically interesting and relaxed feel for our wedding. Aside from how beautiful the place was, what attracted me to this venue is that everything was done in one place.
Tell us about your main outfits:
We both had our outfits custom made/fitted. The pregnancy added a few challenges with my bridal gown with last minute changes to the dress.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
Our incredible vendors with their experience made organising our wedding a breeze. All my worries and concerns they had seen before and their extra touches to ensure a seamless day was beyond our expectations. The florist put together a spectacular centre piece that took my breath away as I walked down the aisle. Friends and family spoke of how our wedding singer took requests from the crowd while they were waiting for the ceremony to start and everyone was singing along. We also included a few personal touches which included the importance of honouring my Aboriginal heritage with my Mum giving an Acknowledgment to Country before the ceremony begun, my 89 Grandmother presenting a speech during the ceremony and having my nieces and nephew and daughter make up our junior bridal party.
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?
Remember why you are getting married because it will be inevitable that you will encounter highly stressful moments. I would recommend delegating tasks out to friends and family.
We had the most incredible support system of friends and family helping us put together details of the wedding, leading up, on the day and after the wedding. We will be forever grateful for their support. My other advice would be ensure that the day be documented well so you can look back and be able to relive the moments and moments missed through photos and video.
