I started asking around about who she was, and even told one of her friends that I was going to marry her. She marched up to me moments later and told me to f…. off. We didn’t speak again until about a year later, and from then, we were inseparable. I proposed to Camille while we were on holiday in Italy. I carried the ring around for weeks before I found the right moment. We were in Sardinia and had been living off pasta and pizza, so I decided to shake it up and booked us in for a romantic dinner at a winery. After being swarmed by wasps at dinner, I had to think on my feet, so I drove us to a secluded beach. The sun was setting and the water was dead still. The timing was perfect. We took a walk around the rocks and I got down on my knee and yelled at Camille: WILL YOU MARRY ME?! At that point, it was all I could get out. We chose Poronui because of its incredible landscape. We wanted to let the beauty of nature shine and not over-do the styling so our stylist Shaye foraged most of our flora and fauna from around the property, then added special touches like dried orange roses and dark purple hydrangeas to create a beautifully organic and elegant look. We wanted our wedding to be intimate and relaxed, so we served dinner at long trestle tables and people could choose their own seats. Our dance floor and bar were outside, under the stars. For our ceremony, a good friend went through the process of becoming a qualified celebrant. She did an amazing job of creating a personal and moving ceremony that we will always treasure. For us, being married means prioritising our relationship over everything else and working as a team. We don’t focus on our challenges too much, and when we do find we have them, we concentrate on how we can overcome them. We are both forward thinkers who don’t dwell on things for too long. We try to focus on how we can move ahead. It’s important to learn to enjoy and appreciate the small things in life as a couple, Enjoy what you have and don’t ever compare yourselves to others.
