Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
Øyvind is an engineer and I work as a neonatal nurse in the University hospital in Trondheim.
The summer we met we had both just moved to Alesund, a small coastal town west in Norway. We were standing in an overcrowded bus on our way to a music festival when my husband first started talking to me, and, as cliché as it might sound it was love at first sight.
We consider it pure serendipity that we met. None of us would ever have dreamt about meeting our future spouse on the local bus and we truly believe that it was faith leading our paths together.
We have grown up together and our relationship has developed over the last nine years from a high school flirt to a strong and lasting relationship. We complete each other and are so grateful that we found our best friend, life companion and true love at such a young age.
Our time together is something we both value a lot. We love to travel and explore the world, but even more so we love our daily life. To wake up next to my best friend, to snuggle up in the couch, to make delicious food in our kitchen, normal things that become special because of the person you have next to you.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
The venue is located on an island in the west of Norway, and the nature there is raw, beautiful and extremely rough. We wanted to let the unique surroundings stand out and speak for them self, and therefor deliberately did not choose a specific theme for our wedding.
We are true Scandinavians at heart and love a simple minimalistic way of living and decorating, and we wanted the styling to reflect this. We therefore kept it simple and my only splurge was the flowers. I love flowers and spent an embarrassing amount of time searching for the perfect flower combination. The day before the wedding we picked up all the flowers that we had ordered and I got to arrange them the way I wanted, it was truly a dream and something I loved spending time on.
Tell us about your main outfits:
I found my wedding dress through Instagram and immediately knew I had to try that dress. I did some research and found one wedding salon in Norway that had this specific dress. I travelled to Oslo to try on dresses and told myself to have and open mind and try on different styles. I tried on several dresses and saved the one I had seen on Instagram for last, the second I put it on I knew it was the one.
My husband is a dedicated James Bond fan, but the Tom Ford suite was a little out of our budget. He therefor found a suite that had the same collar as the Tom Ford one, and got it ordered in the colour and fabric he wanted.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
One moment I will treasure forever is my grandmother walking med down the aisle. She has always ben a huge part of my life, even more so after my mom passed away some years ago. To have the most amazing woman I know by my side was really special for me.
We really wanted to incorporate what we love in our wedding day. Music has always ben an important part of Øyvind´s life. One of his favourite moments was when all of his best friends played a self composed wedding march for us when we arrived at the venue. It was such a fun moment and all the guests loved it.
We also really loved the photo session on the beach. We were just married, all the people we hold dearest were waiting for us to celebrate our love, and we were just bursting with happiness.
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?
Enjoy the process of planning your big day together and try to not get caught up in the details. When the day comes all that really matters is your love for each other.
There will come days when your love is challenged, always remember the love you have for each other today, and strive to nourish this everyday.
Life is to short so be sure to enjoy every moment of it and be grateful for what you have.
