Nik and I met six years ago at a friend’s birthday party. We both hesitated to speak to one another but kept a watchful eye throughout the course of the night!

Intrigue prevailed over shyness and it didn’t take long to realise that despite our different interests, our shared values and goals in life would cement our relationship and become what we love most about each other. Having our two boys at a young age and becoming a young working family keeps us very much bonded and in sync. Our wedding day was perfect but of course it all went too quickly! I’m an interior designer and stylist, so creating and designing our wedding was an absolute dream for me. We visited many locations and I had three separate styling plans prepared, depending on what location we could secure. The Roslyn Packer Theatre had everything ‘character-wise’ that we were after, so we locked it in and began creating the wedding we had always dreamed of. Our theme for the day was “La Luna” – inspired by the moon and its celestial properties – timeless and graceful but with a hint of moodiness. Everything went according to plan on the day other than getting our son River to agree to walk down the aisle as our ring bearer! My dress was by an American designer, Mia Solana, from Luv Bridal. It was completely sheathed in a delicate lace, high cut to the neck with long sleeved arms and a sheer low back buttoned from top to bottom waist. The train draped at the very end into a mermaid-style finish. If I could give any advice to those planning a wedding, it would be to stay as present as you can in that moment. For months of planning, this one day goes all too quickly. Marriage to us means kinship, loyalty, commitment, trust, respect, love, choice, openness, vulnerability, faith, and so much more. We have been together for six years and have two little boys, but there is something very gentle and beautiful in knowing that we are now man and wife. I feel proud and, if possible, so much more in love.
