Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…

I am a primary school teacher and Mitch owns an electrical company.

We are both very similar people when it comes the things we love and I guess what’s important to us in life. Mitch and I are extremely family/friend orientated and have made a big effort to intertwine both our worlds. This always makes for a lot of fun adventures together that incorporate all the people we adore.

We are both extremely active and love team sports. We travel together a least twice a year to compete in regular sporting tournaments and really understanding the commitment that comes with that.

We adore each other on so many different levels. We respect each other’s ideas and opinions and regularly challenge one another and our philosophies about things. We never settle for being ordinary versions of ourselves. We give each other the support and advice we need to help grow and develop as people in all areas of life.

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…

This biggest thing we would say about our wedding and what we wanted for the day was “a massive party with all the people we love in one place at one time”. We are both pretty relaxed and wanted a day that was chilled and focused on the things that are actually important to us, love and laughter.

When it came to the styling I worked with Pia and Jade to set up just that. Mitch is a little more traditional than I am so we kind of met in the middle through bohemian and coastal vibe with a touch of elegance through the darker florals. Our stylist was amazing and set up a venue that made our guests feel super relaxed especially with the picnic style wine and cheese which was put together by a close friend.

Also, due to Mitch being an electrician we decided lighting was going to play a big role. Our stylist came up with the idea to place spot lights all through the trees at night which we thought looked amazing and added a unique touch.

We chose the venue Bawley Bush Retreat because it allowed us to stay in one place all day, party through the night and have our nearest and dearest stay on the property. We also loved the fact that it is pet friendly so it included our dog Ted.

Categories: Weddings-Real Wedding: Jess & Mitch - Photography by Mitch Pohl Tell us about your main outfits:

Wedding dress:

My wedding dress was absolutely perfect for me in every way. It was the beautiful hand beaded Isra grown by Bo and Luca and my veil was a very unique design also by Bo and Luca. I was really lucky to have met with the designer Shannon who helped me piece the look together. She gave me the best advice that I think all brides should stand by when choosing a wedding look: “Be a true version of yourself”. This dress and veil allowed me to do that.

Reception Dress:

My reception dress was so freeing. I am someone who loves to party and be free flowing, so I didn’t want to worry about seeing my wedding dress ruined. I just love dresses and fell in love with this one from Magali Pascal, so thought why not have a party dress, it very me!

Jewellery:

My two outfits were paired with Samantha Wills earrings.

Bridemaids and Groomsman:

I fell in love with the bridesmaids’ dresses the day Spell released the Blue Skies line. All of our styling around the colours and the boys outfits came from the floral print on these dresses.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?

The words that were spoken – it was like nothing else. They brought tears, laughter and emotions we never knew existed.

Our amazing photographer Mitch Pohl suggested taking time out during the wedding to leave the venue and do some photos on our own. This was such a special moment as we got about half an hour to stop, take a second together on a beautiful beach. So simple but so perfect.

The fact that our beautiful Groodle (golden retriever x poodle) accidently got out after speeches and attended the whole reception. He was a highlight of the party for everyone!

And finally, Just the all-around hilariousness of our guests.
