Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship…
I currently work in Clinical Research and Peter works in Finance.  We met 5 years ago and got engaged a year before we got married.

Peter recreated our first date at ‘York Lane’. I should have been tipped off by the fact that he shook the owners hand when we arrived and that the bar staff brought us a candle just for our table and kept smiling at us.  I knew that he had the ring about 4 months prior to him proposing. We had a Europe trip coming up so I assumed it would be then! Having the ring hidden in the apartment was killing me!

Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details…
We only saw one venue (Collits Inn) and we fell in love with it after our tour. It was an easy decision!  We didn’t have a particular theme but we were after creating a rustic vibe and we really wanted it to be laid back. Collits Inn is a venue that could feel like a big party with our family!  The Barn at Collits Inn has the perfect décor and it was so special. Everywhere you looked there was something small hidden away to catch your eye. I couldn’t have done a better job if I tried.
Myself and a couple of my bridesmaid did the flowers ourselves. Everyone told me not to and that I was putting myself under unnecessary stress but I am so glad that we did, it was a really fun experience doing the market run and putting the bunches together.

Tell us about your main outfits:
My Dress was from White Runway and it was a whopping $380 including shipping. It was my second trip trying on dresses and the minute I put it on, I knew it was the one. Nothing I had tried on prior excited me. This ticked all of my boxes (open back and slit through the front of the skirt). I felt like me and that was really important to me.

What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
For Peter, it was hanging with the guys the night before and getting ready with them on the morning. They are a great group of guys that made the whole experience fun and enjoyable. The boys also had troubles with their bow ties on the morning of the wedding. Luckily, we had a last minute addition to our guest list which was a new friend of Peter’s and he saved the day! A very welcome addition to the wedding crew!  Oh, and watching me walk down the aisle of course 😉 For me, it was the surprise mini flash mob that my Mum had organized. Growing up, we would watch My Best Friends Wedding together and our song is ‘Say A little Prayer’. She got up to do a speech and broke out into song and had guests popping up from their tables to join in. It was so special!

Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together?
Being married means having a best friend to annoy for life! It means having someone to hang out with in your track pants on the couch, it means having someone you can be completely yourself around and not feeling guilty about it and it means having a partner to experience everything with (the good and the bad).  Definitely worth taking that leap of faith.
