Tell us a little about yourselves, what you do, what you love, what is unique about you and your relationship… We have been together since we were little baby 19-year-olds. Nine lovely years later and with a two-year-old in tow, we were ready to get married. We’d been tossing up so many ideas, but we just really wanted to get married!
So, on the 24th of April, we decided we were going to get married on the 16th of July and we were going to do it our way. We had just under 3 months to plan everything and that was exciting. Jethro is in Insurance and I work in a Real Estate sales partnership with my beautiful sister.
Tell us about your special day, was there a specific theme or style? Tell us a little about the setting, the styling and some of your favourite details… We wanted to have our favourite people, gathered at our favourite cafe for good food and chilled vibes and it worked out a dream. We planned everything from how we wanted to start the day to our favourite wind down music completely in our own style. We didn’t have any boxes that we felt we needed to tick, just for the sake of ticking them. We had a vision of our dream day and no one else’s and we made it happen.
We kept our wedding simple, full of love, relaxed, fun and completely on vibe with us. It was the dream of all dreams, total euphoria.
Tell us about your main outfits: I went along by myself to a wedding dress shop, tried on about 20 wedding dresses and every time I looked in the mirror, I just didn’t feel right. I didn’t feel myself so it was back to the drawing board.
I was shopping in New Market one day and I walked into Ingrid Starnes. A beautiful knee length silk slip dress with a simple back detail caught my eye so I tried it on and it just felt right! It was olive green and not at all like a ‘wedding dress’ but it immediately felt like my wedding dress. After a consultation with Ingrid, she added a small train and created it in soft ivory silk.
What were some of the most memorable/unique moments from the day?
There are just too many to choose from. We had the dreamiest day but here are a couple of moments:
Jethro
– Walking down the aisle hand in hand just the two of us into a room full of our favourite people to one of our all time favourite songs (The Greatest, Cat Power)
– Special moments I shared talking to friends and family, hugging my Nana and spending time away from the party, on the rooftop with my mum.
Nicole
– I shared an incredible moment with my dad. “You Can Call Me Al” by Simon & Garfunkel was playing, he’s played this music my whole life and we slow danced and shed happy tears together for the whole song. It was bliss.
Any advice for other couples planning to spend the rest of their lives together? Just do your own thing. There is nothing you have to stick to, throw out traditions if they make you unhappy, keep it simple and keep to your vision.
